How Many Minutes Are in a Month?

A month has 40,320 to 44,640 minutes, because months are 28–31 days long. A 30-day month (April, June, September, November) has 43,200 minutes; a 31-day month has 44,640 minutes; and February has 40,320 minutes (41,760 in a leap year). The average Gregorian month is 43,829.1 minutes. Last updated 2026-06-19.

How to calculate minutes in a month

Every day has 24 × 60 = 1,440 minutes. So the minutes in a month is simply the number of days in that month multiplied by 1,440:

minutes = days in month × 1,440

A 31-day month is 31 × 1,440 = 44,640 minutes; a 30-day month is 30 × 1,440 = 43,200 minutes; February’s 28 days give 28 × 1,440 = 40,320 minutes, and a leap February’s 29 days give 29 × 1,440 = 41,760 minutes.

Why a month is not a fixed number of minutes

Unlike a day, an hour or a minute, a calendar month has no single fixed length: it runs from 28 to 31 days, and February gains a day every leap year (years divisible by 4, except century years not divisible by 400 — so 2000 was a leap year but 1900 was not). That is why our time unit converter deliberately leaves “month” out of its fixed-factor unit list. When you need an exact answer, count the days in that specific month — which is exactly what the calculator above does.
